Chapter 2: میرا بھائی

"Mera Bhai" (my brother) is a story about a sibling, a relationship that is central to many children's daily lives. Children talk about brothers and sisters, what they play and share, and sometimes how they quarrel and make up. The chapter builds vocabulary of family and feelings, and supports reading comprehension and oral retelling. It encourages affection, patience and cooperation within the family. Children can write two or three sentences about a sibling or friend, and draw them doing something together.

This is chapter 2 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 7 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "ساری دنیا کے مالک" and is followed by "آؤ پیڑ لگائیں". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Mera Bhai.

Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "میرا بھائی" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort.

Listen to your child read "میرا بھائی" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence.

This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
