Chapter 10: Celebratory Notes
"Celebratory Notes" closes the Music unit with songs for celebrations and occasions. Children learn and sing songs connected with festivals and special days, and practise singing together with rhythm and expression. The chapter links music with community life and tradition. It brings together listening, singing and rhythm skills from earlier chapters and gives children a chance to perform for classmates or school events. Performing in a group builds confidence and teamwork, and children are encouraged to share songs they know from home.
This is chapter 10 of 20 in Bansuri, the Class 3 Arts textbook, in the Music section, and begins on page 71 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "Musical Instruments" and is followed by "Let us Dance".
"Celebratory Notes" is meant to be experienced, not just read. Teachers are encouraged to use the resources in the chapter's QR code, invite local artists or take children out to observe and listen. The book asks that periods allotted to arts are not used for other subjects, and that children are never compared with each other. Each child is encouraged to compete only with their own earlier work, and to enjoy the activity.
Where possible, link "Celebratory Notes" to local art and culture: a visit to a performance, a craft in the neighbourhood or a song from a grandparent. These experiences deepen the chapter and show that arts are a living part of community life.
