Chapter 10: بادل اور تارے

"Baadal Aur Taare" (بادل اور تارے) is a poem by Tilok Chand Mahroom, an Urdu poet who wrote for children. The title, "clouds and stars", points to a sky poem that likely plays with the movement of clouds and the twinkle of stars. Children recite, notice rhythm and imagery and talk about what they see in the sky. The chapter supports pronunciation, memory and vocabulary of nature. Drawing a night sky with clouds and writing a few lines about it give creative practice, and it pairs well with the English poems on the night sky.

This is chapter 10 of 14 in Sitar, the Class 4 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 123 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "گول گنبد" and is followed by "ہندوستانی پرندے". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Tilok Chand Mahroom. Transliterated title: Baadal aur Taare.

In "بادل اور تارے", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script.

Make reading "بادل اور تارے" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle.
