Chapter 4: میرا پیارا وطن
"Mera Pyaara Watan" (میرا پیارا وطن) is a poem by Seemab Akbarabadi about love for one's homeland. A patriotic poem is an occasion for expressive recitation and for talking about what children love about the country. Children learn new vocabulary, notice rhythm and rhyme and relate the poem to the flag, the land and the people. The chapter supports pronunciation, memory and a sense of belonging rooted in inclusion. A drawing of the flag or of a favourite place in India can accompany the recitation.
This is chapter 4 of 14 in Sitar, the Class 4 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 48 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "خاندانی شجرہ" and is followed by "سردار ولبھ بھائی پٹیل". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Seemab Akbarabadi. Transliterated title: Mera Pyaara Watan.
In "میرا پیارا وطن", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script.
Make reading "میرا پیارا وطن" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle.
