Chapter 6: Yoga
"Yoga" is Unit 6, beginning at about page 157. It has four numbered chapters: Yoga for Daily Life, Yoga Sadhana, Asana and Pranayama. Students build on Class 6's yoga unit with a fuller set of postures, breathing practices and attention exercises, with the emphasis on safe, regular practice at one's own pace. After the unit come suggested session plans for teachers, a summative assessment section and an annexure. The unit links with the Science chapters on adolescence and life processes and with Indian traditions of health.
This is chapter 6 of 6 in Khel Yatra, the Class 7 Physical Education and Well Being textbook, in Unit 6, Yoga, and begins on page 157 of the printed 2026-27 book. It is the final chapter, following "Fundamental Skills of Sports — Kabaddi".
Activity comes first in "Yoga". Children learn by moving, trying, adjusting and trying again, and the book stresses safe practice, taking turns, following rules and fair play alongside skill. Equipment should suit the age and ability of the group, and tasks can be made easier or harder without singling anyone out. After the activity, circle time gives every child a chance to speak about what they felt and learnt, and ground rules of respect and listening apply to all.
After "Yoga", ask your child what they found easy and what felt hard, and what they would change in the game or activity. Conversations like this extend the circle-time habit to the home. Make sure children drink water, wear suitable clothing and rest properly after exercise.
