Chapter 10: तरुण के स्वप्न
"तरुण के स्वप्न" (Tarun Ke Swapn) is an address (udbodhan) by Subhas Chandra Bose to the young, and the title means "the dreams of the young". It is the last numbered chapter. Students read a rousing text, notice how an orator persuades and discuss what dreams and responsibilities the young have for their country. It supports reading of speeches, vocabulary of aspiration and civic values, and links with the Social Science chapter on India's road to independence. A read-only poem by Nirala, "Bharati, Jay, Vijay Kare!", follows it, then a dictionary.
This is chapter 10 of 10 in Malhar, the Class 8 Hindi textbook, and begins on page 140 of the printed 2026-27 book. It is the final chapter, following "आदमी का अनुपात". Its form in the contents is: address (udbodhan), by Subhas Chandra Bose. Transliterated title: Tarun Ke Swapn.
In "तरुण के स्वप्न", the focus is on understanding and expression. Children can retell the content, discuss what they liked, find new words and use them in sentences of their own. Poems are meant to be recited and stories to be told and acted out. Because the book is designed for a multilingual country, teachers are encouraged to welcome children's home languages and to connect the lesson to local stories, songs and sayings.
Make "तरुण के स्वप्न" a family activity by reading a few lines aloud in turns, acting out a part or playing a word game with words from the lesson. Praise effort and expression, and avoid correcting every error at once.
This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
