NCERT Solutions for Class 1 Urdu Chapter 3: دو دوست
"Do Dost" (two friends) is a story about friendship. A short story with two characters is easy for beginners to follow, and it gives natural scope for conversation: who the friends are, what they do together and how they help each other. Children practise listening, retelling and acting out the parts. They also meet new words and letters in context. The chapter supports values of cooperation and kindness, which the prelims name among the life skills the book wants to nurture. Children can draw their own best friend and say something about them. This is chapter 3 of 18 in Shahnai, the Class 1 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 15 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "چاند میں پریاں رہتی ہیں" and is followed by "آؤ پڑھیں ہم". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Do Dost. Urdu is written right to left in a cursive script, so reading and writing need regular, patient practice. With "دو دوست", teachers are advised to read the lesson aloud first, let children repeat with correct pronunciation, discuss the meaning of new words and then move to oral and written questions. Writing practice builds from letters to words to sentences. Poems are best learnt with rhythm and recited aloud, and children should be encouraged to love the sound of the language as much as its script. After "دو دوست", ask your child to tell you the story or the idea in their own words, and to write one or two neat sentences in Urdu script. Elders can add poems, sayings and stories from their own childhood, which strengthens the connection with the language. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
