NCERT Solutions for Class 2 Urdu Chapter 15: پڑوسی
"Padosi" (the neighbour) is a story about the people who live next door. Neighbours form a community, and the story gives scope to discuss helping, sharing and living peacefully with others. Children talk about their neighbours and how they help each other in good and bad times. The chapter supports comprehension and values of kindness and social responsibility. Vocabulary of homes and relationships is practised. Children can write a short thank-you note or draw something they could do for a neighbour. This is chapter 15 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 90 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "ہنسوں کا جوڑا اور کچھوا" and is followed by "مکڑی". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Padosi. Urdu is written right to left in a cursive script, so reading and writing need regular, patient practice. With "پڑوسی", teachers are advised to read the lesson aloud first, let children repeat with correct pronunciation, discuss the meaning of new words and then move to oral and written questions. Writing practice builds from letters to words to sentences. Poems are best learnt with rhythm and recited aloud, and children should be encouraged to love the sound of the language as much as its script. After "پڑوسی", ask your child to tell you the story or the idea in their own words, and to write one or two neat sentences in Urdu script. Elders can add poems, sayings and stories from their own childhood, which strengthens the connection with the language. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
