NCERT Solutions for Class 3 Arts Chapter 1: Objects in Art
"Objects in Art" opens Bansuri - I and the Visual Arts unit. Children look closely at everyday things such as bowls, bottles, shoes and fruit, and use drawing, painting, cutting and pasting to show what they see. The prelims invite children to notice the simple things around them and describe visual arts as drawing, painting, cutting, pasting and playing with clay, colours and natural objects. The chapter is about seeing carefully, noticing shapes, colours and textures, and trying materials. There is no right or wrong at this stage, and children are encouraged to enjoy making. This is chapter 1 of 20 in Bansuri, the Class 3 Arts textbook, in the Visual Arts section, and begins on page 3 of the printed 2026-27 book. It is the opening chapter and is followed by "Plants in Art". "Objects in Art" is meant to be experienced, not just read. Teachers are encouraged to use the resources in the chapter's QR code, invite local artists or take children out to observe and listen. The book asks that periods allotted to arts are not used for other subjects, and that children are never compared with each other. Each child is encouraged to compete only with their own earlier work, and to enjoy the activity. Where possible, link "Objects in Art" to local art and culture: a visit to a performance, a craft in the neighbourhood or a song from a grandparent. These experiences deepen the chapter and show that arts are a living part of community life. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
