NCERT Solutions for Class 3 Arts Chapter 12: Dance for Joy
"Dance for Joy" focuses on the happiness of moving. Children dance to music and rhythms, express feelings such as joy and excitement through movement, and may learn simple steps or gestures from different dance traditions. The chapter builds on free movement from the previous one with more structure and variety. Group dances develop cooperation and spatial awareness, and children are encouraged to watch and appreciate each other. Dance is presented as a way of celebration and self-expression rather than competition. This is chapter 12 of 20 in Bansuri, the Class 3 Arts textbook, in the Movement and Dance section, and begins on page 88 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "Let us Dance" and is followed by "I Play and Dance". In "Dance for Joy", the process matters more than the product. Children are encouraged to experiment, observe and express in their own way, and the book states that there is no pass or fail in arts at this stage. Activities can be done with simple, locally available materials. Each class can begin with a minute of quiet recall of the previous lesson and end with Circle Time, when children talk freely and the teacher notes observations for future planning. After "Dance for Joy", ask your child to show or teach you something they learnt: a song, a movement, a drawing or a short scene. Watching, listening and appreciating at home encourages the habit of creative practice, which grows over time. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
