NCERT Solutions for Class 3 Arts Chapter 16: Imagine

"Imagine" builds on exploration by using imagination to create characters, places and situations. Children pretend, mime and improvise, using their bodies and voices to bring ideas to life. The chapter develops creativity, language and the ability to see from another person's point of view. Activities may include freeze-frames, imaginary objects and role-play games. Because there are no wrong answers, children can try new ideas freely. Circle time after activities lets them talk about what they imagined and how it felt. This is chapter 16 of 20 in Bansuri, the Class 3 Arts textbook, in the Theatre section, and begins on page 118 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "Explore" and is followed by "Let's Create". "Imagine" is meant to be experienced, not just read. Teachers are encouraged to use the resources in the chapter's QR code, invite local artists or take children out to observe and listen. The book asks that periods allotted to arts are not used for other subjects, and that children are never compared with each other. Each child is encouraged to compete only with their own earlier work, and to enjoy the activity. Where possible, link "Imagine" to local art and culture: a visit to a performance, a craft in the neighbourhood or a song from a grandparent. These experiences deepen the chapter and show that arts are a living part of community life. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
