NCERT Solutions for Class 3 Physical Education and Well Being Chapter 2: Kicking and Receiving
"Kicking and Receiving" continues Unit 1 and turns attention to the feet. Children kick balls towards a target or partner, stop or receive a rolling ball, and begin to judge speed and direction. The unit description in the book mentions kicking and receiving explicitly as basic motor movements, and says objects of different size and weight are used so that all children can take part. Safety, space awareness and taking turns are emphasised. Circle time lets children reflect on teamwork and fair play. This is chapter 2 of 7 in Khel Yoga, the Class 3 Physical Education and Well Being textbook, in Unit 1, Basic Motor Movements, and begins on page 12 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "Throwing and Catching" and is followed by "Strike the Ball". Participation matters more than performance in "Kicking and Receiving". The aim is for each child to experience the joy of movement and to build the habit of regular activity. Safety checks of the space and equipment, a short warm-up and a calm cool-down are part of good practice. Assessment follows the protocol at the back of the book and focuses on effort, improvement and attitude as well as skill. Families can support "Kicking and Receiving" by giving children time and safe space to play outdoors, joining in occasionally and asking them to describe what they enjoyed. Avoid focusing only on winning. Encourage children to teach a younger sibling or friend what they learnt, which builds confidence and leadership. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare.
