NCERT Solutions for Class 4 Arts Chapter 1: Arrangements of Objects
"Arrangements of Objects" opens Bansuri for Grade 4 and the Visual Arts unit. According to the book's letter to children, the year's art-making is tied to a Panchatantra story that is explored through visual art, theatre, music and dance. The title suggests that children look at how everyday objects can be grouped, balanced and composed, as in a still life, and then draw, paint or collage their arrangement. Noticing shape, colour, size and space is the core skill. There is no right or wrong, and children are encouraged to try different arrangements and talk about what they like in them. This is chapter 1 of 18 in Bansuri, the Class 4 Arts textbook, in the Visual Arts section, and begins on page 8 of the printed 2026-27 book. It is the opening chapter and is followed by "Textures in Nature". "Arrangements of Objects" is meant to be experienced, not just read. Teachers are encouraged to use the resources in the chapter's QR code, invite local artists or take children out to observe and listen. The book asks that periods allotted to arts are not used for other subjects, and that children are never compared with each other. Each child is encouraged to compete only with their own earlier work, and to enjoy the activity. Where possible, link "Arrangements of Objects" to local art and culture: a visit to a performance, a craft in the neighbourhood or a song from a grandparent. These experiences deepen the chapter and show that arts are a living part of community life. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
