NCERT Solutions for Class 4 Arts Chapter 16: Creating My Dance

"Creating My Dance" gives children the chance to compose their own movements. They choose a theme, music or rhythm, decide on a sequence of movements and practise and share it. The chapter builds creativity, planning and the confidence to perform, and children learn that choreography is a form of problem-solving. Groups can combine their sequences into a short performance. As in other chapters, there is no right or wrong dance, and encouragement matters more than correction. This is chapter 16 of 18 in Bansuri, the Class 4 Arts textbook, in the Dance section, and begins on page 157 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "My Dance Tells Stories" and is followed by "Emotion and Expression in Dance". "Creating My Dance" is meant to be experienced, not just read. Teachers are encouraged to use the resources in the chapter's QR code, invite local artists or take children out to observe and listen. The book asks that periods allotted to arts are not used for other subjects, and that children are never compared with each other. Each child is encouraged to compete only with their own earlier work, and to enjoy the activity. Where possible, link "Creating My Dance" to local art and culture: a visit to a performance, a craft in the neighbourhood or a song from a grandparent. These experiences deepen the chapter and show that arts are a living part of community life. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
