Chapter 13: ہوائی جہاز

"Hawai Jahaaz" (the aeroplane) is a poem by Akhtar Shirani. Aeroplanes fascinate young children, and a poem about one gives opportunities for words about the sky, speed and travel. Children recite the poem, mimic flight with their arms and talk about whether they have seen or travelled on a plane. The chapter builds vocabulary of transport and the sky, and supports rhythm and memory. Children can make a paper aeroplane and describe how it flies, linking poetry with a hands-on activity.

This is chapter 13 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 78 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "ہنستا کھیلتا خاندان" and is followed by "ہنسوں کا جوڑا اور کچھوا". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Akhtar Shirani. Transliterated title: Hawai Jahaaz.

In "ہوائی جہاز", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script.

Make reading "ہوائی جہاز" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle.

This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
