Chapter 17: آؤ گیت گائیں

"Aao Geet Gaayein" (let us sing songs) is a poem by Shabnam Kamali that invites children to sing. Songs are a natural way to learn language through rhythm and repetition. Children sing together, clap and enjoy the sound of Urdu. This item is marked in the prelims as read-only, meant for reading and enjoyment without exercises.

This is chapter 17 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 101 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "مکڑی" and is followed by "آؤٹ". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Shabnam Kamali. Transliterated title: Aao Geet Gaayein.

Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "آؤ گیت گائیں" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort.

Listen to your child read "آؤ گیت گائیں" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence.

This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
