In "بھارت پیارا، بھارت پیارا", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script.
Make reading "بھارت پیارا، بھارت پیارا" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle.
