NCERT Solutions for Class 2 Urdu Chapter 10: عید کا چاند

"Eid Ka Chaand" (the moon of Eid) is a poem by Hafiz Dhampuri about the sighting of the Eid moon. The moon signals the end of Ramadan, and children across communities enjoy the excitement and joy of a festival. The poem builds vocabulary of celebration and the night sky, and supports rhythm and expressive reading. Children can talk about festivals and how families prepare and greet each other, and learn greetings such as Eid Mubarak. The chapter fosters respect for the cultures that Urdu belongs to. This is chapter 10 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 60 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "گاندھی جی کی پنسل" and is followed by "سمجھ داری". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Hafiz Dhampuri. Transliterated title: Eid ka Chaand. In "عید کا چاند", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script. Make reading "عید کا چاند" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
