NCERT Solutions for Class 2 Urdu Chapter 5: وقت کی قدر
"Waqt Ki Qadr" (the value of time) is a story about using time wisely. Children follow a narrative that probably shows what happens when time is wasted or used well, and talk about daily routines, punctuality and planning. The chapter supports comprehension, discussion and values of discipline. Vocabulary of time, such as morning, evening, early and late, can be practised. Children can draw up a simple timetable for their day and say how they will use their time well. It also gives practice with reading connected text. This is chapter 5 of 19 in Shahnai, the Class 2 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 29 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "ہمارا وطن" and is followed by "کھیل کا میدان". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Waqt ki Qadr. Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "وقت کی قدر" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort. Listen to your child read "وقت کی قدر" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
