Chapter 11: بھلائی
"Bhalai" (goodness, kindness) is a story about doing good. Stories about kindness help children see how small acts matter and how goodness often returns. Children follow the events, discuss the moral and think of ways they can be kind. The chapter supports comprehension, sequencing and values education. It also provides practice in reading a longer narrative and answering questions. Children can keep a kindness diary for a week, noting something kind they did or saw, and share it in circle time.
This is chapter 11 of 19 in Sitar, the Class 3 Urdu textbook, in Unit 4, ہماری تہذیب (Our culture), and begins on page 94 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "ہمدردی" and is followed by "فٹ بال". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Bhalai.
Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "بھلائی" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort.
Listen to your child read "بھلائی" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence.
