Chapter 12: فٹ بال

"Football" is an essay about a popular sport. The essay is likely to describe the game, its rules and the benefits of play. Children read for information, learn vocabulary of sport and teamwork and talk about games they love. The chapter supports comprehension of non-fiction and links Urdu with physical education. It also reinforces the book's emphasis on health and teamwork, and mirrors the Class 3 PE textbook's activities, such as kicking and receiving. Children can write a few lines about a game they play and its rules.

This is chapter 12 of 19 in Sitar, the Class 3 Urdu textbook, in Unit 4, ہماری تہذیب (Our culture), and begins on page 103 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "بھلائی" and is followed by "درختوں سے محبت". Its form in the contents is: essay. Transliterated title: Football.

Urdu is written right to left in a cursive script, so reading and writing need regular, patient practice. With "فٹ بال", teachers are advised to read the lesson aloud first, let children repeat with correct pronunciation, discuss the meaning of new words and then move to oral and written questions. Writing practice builds from letters to words to sentences. Poems are best learnt with rhythm and recited aloud, and children should be encouraged to love the sound of the language as much as its script.

After "فٹ بال", ask your child to tell you the story or the idea in their own words, and to write one or two neat sentences in Urdu script. Elders can add poems, sayings and stories from their own childhood, which strengthens the connection with the language.

This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
