NCERT Solutions for Class 3 Urdu Chapter 8: دوست کی پہچان
"Dost Ki Pehchaan" (recognising a friend) is a story about what makes a true friend. The title suggests a test of friendship, and children follow events that reveal character. They discuss loyalty, kindness and honesty and think about who they trust. The chapter supports comprehension, discussion and values, and gives practice in reading dialogue. Role-play of key scenes helps children see different points of view. Children can write a few sentences about a good friend and why that friend matters to them. This is chapter 8 of 19 in Sitar, the Class 3 Urdu textbook, in Unit 3, ہمارا ماحول (Our environment), and begins on page 66 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "برسات" and is followed by "میوزیم کی سیر". Its form in the contents is: story. Transliterated title: Dost ki Pehchaan. Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "دوست کی پہچان" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort. Listen to your child read "دوست کی پہچان" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
