NCERT Solutions for Class 5 Urdu Chapter 2: تالاب کا بھوت
"Talaab Ka Bhoot" (تالاب کا بھوت) is a folk tale, and the title, "the ghost of the pond", promises a mildly spooky and probably humorous story. Folk tales often turn fear into wit, and children enjoy finding out what the supposed ghost really is. At about sixteen pages it is a long chapter, suitable for reading in parts and retelling. Children discuss the moral, learn vocabulary of villages and ponds and practise sequencing. The chapter supports comprehension and role-play. This is chapter 2 of 13 in Sitar, the Class 5 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 9 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "خدا کی قدرت" and is followed by "گرو نانک". Its form in the contents is: folk tale. Transliterated title: Talaab ka Bhoot. Urdu textbooks at this stage share cultural values as well as language, and "تالاب کا بھوت" is an opportunity to do both. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, and the teacher's own clear, expressive reading is the most useful model. Short daily practice in tracing letters and copying neat lines helps with the shapes of the script. Families can help by listening to the child read, by sharing poems and stories from their own heritage and by praising effort. Listen to your child read "تالاب کا بھوت" aloud at home and ask what they understood. Point to words along the line from right to left, and help them trace letters carefully. Reciting poems to family members builds both pronunciation and confidence. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
