NCERT Solutions for Class 5 Urdu Chapter 3: گرو نانک
"Guru Nanak" (گرو نانک) is a biography (sawaneh) of the founder of Sikhism, who is revered across communities in India for his teachings on equality, honest work and service. Children read an account of a life, notice the order of events and discuss values such as kindness and humility. The chapter introduces biography as a form and supports informational reading and vocabulary of faith and history. It also shows the shared cultural world of Urdu. A read-only essay on preparation, "Taiyari Mein Hi Samajhdari Hai", follows it. This is chapter 3 of 13 in Sitar, the Class 5 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 25 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "تالاب کا بھوت" and is followed by "راہ نما بن جاؤں". Its form in the contents is: biography. Transliterated title: Guru Nanak. Urdu is written right to left in a cursive script, so reading and writing need regular, patient practice. With "گرو نانک", teachers are advised to read the lesson aloud first, let children repeat with correct pronunciation, discuss the meaning of new words and then move to oral and written questions. Writing practice builds from letters to words to sentences. Poems are best learnt with rhythm and recited aloud, and children should be encouraged to love the sound of the language as much as its script. After "گرو نانک", ask your child to tell you the story or the idea in their own words, and to write one or two neat sentences in Urdu script. Elders can add poems, sayings and stories from their own childhood, which strengthens the connection with the language. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
