NCERT Solutions for Class 5 Urdu Chapter 7: شہد کی مکھی
"Shehad Ki Makkhi" (شہد کی مکھی) is a poem by Allama Iqbal, one of Urdu's greatest poets, and its title means "the honeybee". Iqbal wrote several poems for children using animals as characters with a lesson, and a bee is an apt symbol of hard work. Children recite with rhythm, learn new words and discuss industry and cooperation. The chapter supports pronunciation, memory and moral reflection, and gives children a taste of classical Urdu verse. Observing a bee on a flower makes the poem real. This is chapter 7 of 13 in Sitar, the Class 5 Urdu textbook, and begins on page 82 of the printed 2026-27 book. It follows "کبڈی" and is followed by "چار دوست". Its form in the contents is: poem, by Allama Iqbal. Transliterated title: Shehad ki Makkhi. In "شہد کی مکھی", the aims are fluent reading, clear pronunciation and understanding. Children can be asked to read a few lines aloud, explain what they understood, find new words and use them in a sentence of their own. The book links Urdu with art, environment, science and social science, so discussion can move beyond the text to the child's surroundings. Oral answers come before written ones, and children should not be hurried or discouraged by errors in spelling or script. Make reading "شہد کی مکھی" a shared moment. Take turns reading lines, discuss unfamiliar words and look for them in newspapers or signs. Short, daily practice, with praise for effort, helps the script and the language settle. This overview is written from the 2026-27 textbook's Contents page, its preface and the chapter title, to help families and teachers prepare. Please read the chapter itself for exact content, activities and exercises.
